Yoga Teacher Training, is a whole lot more than just learning how to teach the asanas (postures)... Yoga is the umbrella for a whole realm of wellness based practices. From Ayurveda to asana, and a whole lot in between. Some of the most important parts of your training, will be based on honouring the practice, the history, philosophy, and traditions of all that is yoga.
This will include but is not limited to:
The 8 limbs *Yamas, Niyamas, Asanas, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi
Chakra Systems
History and philosophy
Ayurvedic medicine and doshas
Cueing, alignments
Use of props and variations
Class planning and sequencing
Anatomy
Business of yoga
Developing your teaching voice
Developing confidence in your voice is an essential part of your training as well. From the very first days in your training, you will begin teaching and guiding your fellow classmates. Through short sequences, flows, and meditations. You will practice developing your own classes - see what flows nicely in the body, and how to move your students smoothly through the postures. From the very first moments, we will be creating a safe and welcoming environment, for students to feel safe to learn, have clunky moments, and grow from the challenges.
The 200hr yoga teacher training is designed to be a first step into the world of yoga. This "general study" program will give you a well rounded first experience of all that yoga has to offer. You will get the chance to learn about all types of yoga styles.

Once you have completed your 200hr YTT, you are qualified to teach but if you plan to teach something that does not fall under the umbrella of Hatha, you will likely require more training. These YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Programs), are where you can dive a little deeper into the styles that you are most attracted to!
Some YACEP offerings you will often see available:

Advanced asana

These will likely be offered in the form of either an online class, or 20 / 50 / 100 hour continuing education retreat.
The learning never stops! Once you have dipped your toes in, with your 200hr YTT, you will be able to dive into your favourite styles, as well as continue your training with a 300hr YTT! The 300hr YTT is build with similar guidelines to the 200hr classes - but a more thorough and advanced version!
Along with your education hours, you will want to build up your teaching time. This is the best way to hone in on your skills and knowledge. As well as further develop confidence in your teaching voice, refine your classes, and learn from your students.
You can teach:
In the park
Online
In your office
Private classes
Schools / college / university
